Spotify - or simply music in general - has been a big part of students' lives at Oakdale High School. Here’s a look at what’s been a fan favorite hit among the listening community:
Coming in at number five, we have I Just Might By Bruno Mars! With the release date of January 9, 2026, this song became the lead track to Bruno Mars’ album, The Romantic. The song features a 70s/ 80s sound with brass, a buzzy bassline, and instantly attractive lyrics. The music video, along with the track, displays Bruno Mars in a 70s-style setting and style.
At number four is Opalite by Taylor Swift. This song's story is about transforming difficult experiences into something luminous and sustaining. The tone of the song is upbeat and catchy, and it gets you in a good mood to prepare you for the day. Swift also included her personal relationship with Travis Kelce, whose birthstone is opal, into her music.
Next up, we have Ordinary by Alex Warren. This song was Warren’s tribute to his loving and supportive wife and their journey together, which had begun when Alex Warren was homeless. The music expresses how their love turned from ordinary to extraordinary and conveys their deep bond through the catchy beat and loving lyrics.
Number two on Billboard Hot 100 is Olivia Dean’s hit, Man I need! This song describes the knowledge of deserving to be loved, and her ability to not be afraid to ask for it. This fun anthem was made for people to get up and dance as the lyrics flow smoothly to the rhythm until you can’t help but replay it.
Finally, coming in at number one above all the others, is Ella Langley and her beautiful country single, Choosin’ Texas. The song was inspired by an experience she had as a child when she heard someone say, "she's from Texas, I can tell," behind her back, which later became the hook line of her song! A laughable experience that ended up changing her life for the better.
